About Project Engagement

Connecting with Vermont stakeholders is a key component of the Designation 2050 program evaluation and recommendations/reform process. With tens of thousands of stakeholders, hundreds of interested organizations and municipalities, and only a few months for outreach, we can't reach everyone.

Our process prioritizes reaching a wide range of voices and perspectives, offering a variety of flexible, creative, and accessible ways for diverse people to participate, and ensuring that we listen deeply and honor every comment we hear -- including dissenting views and ideas that don't make it into final recommendations. There will be more opportunities to share input when the recommendations move toward legislative adoption.

PHASE

1

EVALUATION

It's time to listen. We want to hear from a broad range of program users, stakeholders, officials, organizations, planners, state agencies and more.

PHASE

2

RECOMMENDATIONS

Dig in and help us design the next phase of Vermont's State Designation Programs, looking ahead to the next 25.

Our Process

  • How are the Designation Programs working for Vermont users? Municipalities? Vermont overall? BIPOC people and others underrepresented in planning and state investment?

  • Which benefits are most important? What benefits would be of interest?

  • What would make the programs easier to use? What are the barriers to access?

  • What's your vision for the next 25 years?

  • How many designations should there be? What land uses and geographies should they cover?

  • How should they address emerging statewide priorities like climate change, housing, downtown revitalization, equitable state investment, tax reform and flood resilience?

  • How can we align the programs with each other, with state agency priorities, and with future land use maps and regional plans?

  • How can we make the programs easier to understand, access, and manage?

SURVEYS & ONLINE INPUT
