About the event

Meeting Vermont’s current and future housing needs will take action and creativity at all levels. Progress is underway in many corners, from individual towns and non-profits taking action, to statewide and regional coalitions, to large-scale developers and property owners renovating garages. Join us and share your perspective on housing needs and opportunities.

  • What does the housing crisis look like in your local area? What does it look like from your perspective?
  • What are the housing needs and opportunities you see now? What types of housing does your community want to see, and where? What are the biggest barriers to making progress?
  • What are the most promising projects and strategies you're seeing? What promising ideas have you seen in other places?
  • How are Vermont's designation programs impacting housing right now? How might we reform or reimagine them to help meet our future housing needs?

Join Designation 2050 for a Virtual Conversation. Tell us what housing looks like from your corner of Vermont and help us prioritize ideas for designation reform.

Designation 2050 is a statewide project to evaluate, reimagine, and redesign Vermont’s statewide designation programs for the next 25 years.  Authorized by the Vermont Legislature, it will develop recommendations for making the programs more impactful, more accessible to diverse communities, and simpler to manage and use.

Vermont's State Designation Programs are managed by the Vermont Department of Housing & Community Development. The project consulting team is led by Smart Growth America, with community engagement by Community Workshop. More info: >
