Vermont State Designation Programs Evaluation & Reform
Grants for flood-resilient infrastructure and village revitalization. Tax benefits for restoration of historic buildings. Faster approval for downtown housing and mixed use development. Technical support for bike and pedestrian improvements.
Vermont's five Designation Programs offer these and many other benefits to hundreds of Vermont communities. After 25 years, it's time to evaluate the programs and work to make them even stronger, more impactful, and easier to access.
The Vermont Legislature authorized an evaluation and modernization project for 2023, to review how well the programs are working and develop recommendations for their future.
